Bowraville not only has
some great history and a great environment, it also has some
leading edge technology. A fund raising effort to
refurbish the town's clocks brought in enough money to enable
the community to install internet cameras in the clock tower.
The local Community Technology Centre researched the
possibilities and sorted out the details of the installation.
Two cameras are available - one faces south and the other faces
north.
The BowraCam link
below will take you to a web based interface to the cameras.
Click Live Viewer. Note: Playback is not available!
The first time you use this on your computer you will be asked to
install some software to enable the interface. If you do not
install this software the interface will not work. The system will then ask
you to login. The login user name is rally or bowracam and there is no
password. Login time is limited to 10 minutes. After
that you will be automatically logged out. If there are a
lot of people logged in the system will slow down. There
is a limit to the number of logged in users. If that is
exceeded you will get a message. Wait a while and try
again.
In the interface there are several
windows. In the right hand side there are the names of the
available cameras :
North (Bowra Cam 1) and South (Bowra
Cam 2).
Right click the camera you want to
view and click Connect. If you want to switch cameras then
right click the camera you are currently using and click
Disconnect then connect to the other camera. You can use
the various options to view the video stream full screen etc.
Due to resolution and transmission limits the images will get
fuzzy as you increase the size. It may be possible to
connect to both cameras if there is enough computing power and
bandwidth but don't expect to be able to do that.
